Superboy #238 - Jim Starlin cover

Jim Starlin
Superboy (and the Legion of Super-Heroes) v1 #238, 1978 - Forced to hard labor in an interstellar prison, Superboy and his fellow Legionnaires toil under alien skies. Jim Starlin’s wrap-around cover features as many heroes as space allows. The front is certainly overcrowded but alleviated when the scene is complete. The figure drawings are heavy and cumbersome, perhaps suggesting their extreme burden. Though ambitious, Starlin’s efforts could have gone into a more manageable layout. This new cover re-packages Legion reprints from Adventure Comics #359 and Adventure Comics #360. This is number 1 of 4 Superboy issues with Starlin art and/or covers.
