Fightin' Army #89 - Steve Ditko art

Fightin' Army v1 #89, 1970 - In the village of St. Pierre, Nazis hold children hostage to keep the Americans from shelling the town. Steve Ditko's graphic style seems mismatched for this grave situation, but the artwork suffices. Multi-scene panels (such as the interior page below) and other techniques reinforce the storytelling. Several night-time panels also use more detail and texture. Other artists in this issue include Rocco Mastroserio and Sam Glanzman. This is number 2 of 4 Fightin' Army issues with Ditko art and/or covers (not including reprints). See today's posts or more Ditko or Fightin' Army issues. See also this blog's Steve Ditko checklist.
