Balder the Brave #4 - Walt Simonson cover

Walt Simonson
Balder the Brave v1 #4, 1986 - Walt Simonson employs a radial cover layout, where all visual elements converge toward a focal point. Several figures placed strategically in the mid- and foreground to increase the sense of perspective. Notice how the lack of large solid black areas also serve to enhance the brightness of the scene. While this type of layout is used all too frequently due to its dynamic ease, Simonson does it better than most. Other artists in this issue include Sal Buscema. This is number 4 of 4 Balder the Brave issues with Simonson art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Simonson or Balder the Brave issues. See also this blog's Walt Simonson checklist.
