Black Hood v1 #2, 1983 - Though less frenetic than his previous cover,
Alex Toth delivers another compelling scene. The artist has greater command of the overall design, drawing the small inset as well as the series masthead. Inside, Toth illustrates the tale of a mysterious hero called the Fox. His drawings are decidedly minimalist, which looks effective on some panels and outdated in others. Toth's back cover better meets expectations with its tighter linework and composition. Dan Spiegle's art on the second Black Hood tale inside is simply terrific. Other artists in this issue include Pat Boyette. This is 2 of 3
