Thor #341 - Walt Simonson art & cover

Thor #341, 1984 - The Chrysler building and World Trade Center Towers form a quiet backdrop for an airborne Thor on this issue's title page. His battle with a Godzilla-like creature is frankly less interesting than other sequences in the book. In addition to his splendid drawings, Walt Simonson shows in some instances his continued penchant for innovation. Solid white panels, solid black panels and panels of ever-diminishing sizes (page four) are clear evidence of this. As usual, his sense of story pacing is a strong component his overall efforts. Nick Fury also makes a cameo appearance. This is 16 of 41 Thor issues with Simonson art. See today's posts or more Simonson or Thor issues. See also this blog's Walt Simonson checklist.
