Weird Tales of the Macabre #1 - Jeff Jones cover

Jeff Jones
Weird Tales of the Macabre v1 #1, 1975 - No stranger to the horror genre, Jeff Jones illustrates an appropriately creepy image for this premiere issue. The covers of these comic magazines were often painted, reflecting the higher price and maturity of the audience. Jones' deftness as a painter evolved early as this example shows. His color palette is unusually earthy and subtle. His art works especially well with the otherwise cumbersome masthead. Other artists in this issue include Pat Boyette, Ernie Colon, Leo Duranova, Leo Summers, Ramon Torrents and Villanova. This is number 1 of 1 Weird Tales of the Macabre issues with Jones art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Jones or Weird Tales of the Macabre issues. See also this blog's Jones checklist.
