Gene Autry and Champion #113 - non-attributed Alex Toth art

Gene Autry and Champion v1 #113, 1957 - A western sheriff suffers from impaired vision, which is opportunity enough for the town bully to challenge him to a duel. Only four pages, this Alex Toth short doesn't have the benefit of a full page splash or overly large panels. Yet the artist draws each page in impressive and stunning detail. His generous use of shadows (appropriate for the tone of the story) and textural effects result in an all-too-brief, but exceptional work. This is number 1 of 1 Gene Autry and Champion issues with Toth art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Toth or Gene Autry issues. See also this blog's Alex Toth checklist.
