House of Mystery #287 - Nestor Redondo art

House of Mystery #287
House of Mystery v1 #287, 1980 - An arctic weather station discovers their dogs have been mysteriously killed, leading them to speculate on the dusty coffin in the storeroom. Nestor Redondo only provides the layouts for this tale that seems similar to John Carpenter's film "The Thing". Unfortunately, the pages lack the sensitivity and polish the artist is typically known for. The only semblance of Redondo's influence is the main character's anguished face in the next to the last panel. If not for the credits on the opening page, this effort would have been unrecognizable. Curiously, the cover features the same story, but erroneously uses a werewolf? Other artists in this copper age comic include Jerry Grandenetti, Joe Orlando, E.R. Cruz, Bob Layton and Alex Saviuk. Cover by Mike Kaluta. This is 14 of 16 House of Mystery issues by Redondo. /// Redondo gallery
