Captain America #102, 1968 - The Sleeper storyline concludes with this issue, and Jack Kirby delivers another outstanding silver age effort. The relatively quiet opening splash offers a brief pause before the action begins, and from there the pacing increases with each page. Captain America's climactic battle with the Sleeper is pure Kirby: varying angles and views and dynamic layouts. Another splash page midway through the book conveys the antagonist's destructive power without his actual appearance.
