Brave and the Bold #156 - Don Newton art

Brave and the Bold #156, 1979 - The Batman enlists the aid of Doctor Fate to expose the corruption within Gotham City's own police department. Don Newton opens the tale with a rather clumsy layout for the first page. Beyond that, his artwork is more than satisfactory. While the Batman investigates on the physical plane, Dr. Fate battles supernatural forces, allowing the artist some creative opportunities with settings and characters. Some of the panels are reminiscent of Newton's horror stories for Charlton comics done only a few years earlier. This is number 2 of 3 Brave and the Bold issues with Newton art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Newton or Brave and the Bold issues. See also this blog's Don Newton checklist.
