Brave and the Bold #156 |
Brave and the Bold v1 #156, 1979 - The Batman enlists the aid of Doctor Fate to expose the corruption within Gotham City's own police department.
Don Newton opens the tale with a rather clumsy layout for the first page. Beyond that, his artwork is more than satisfactory. While the Batman investigates on the physical plane, Dr. Fate battles supernatural forces, allowing the artist some creative opportunities with settings and characters. Some of the panels are reminiscent of Newton's horror stories for Charlton comics done only a few years earlier. This story was later reprinted in
Tales of the Batman: Don Newton #1. Cover by Jim Aparo. This is 2 of 3
