Fighting American v1 #4, 1954 - Jack Kirby's flair for creating interesting, original characters continues. The heavy set Rhode Island Red and her minions are among the more memorable foes within this issue. Of the three feature stories, two begin with bold full page splashes, including a frenetic montage of figures in "Tokyo Runaround" (see interior page shown below). Fighting American also embarks in a short science fiction tale, offering alien landscapes and settings atypical for this Cold War-themed book. Joe Simon's inks, as usual, are a splendid complement to Kirby's pencils. This is number 4 of 8 Fighting American issues with Kirby art and/or covers.
