Battlestar Galactica #22 - Walt Simonson art & cover

Battlestar Galactica #22, 1980 - Nearing the end of his run on the series, Walt Simonson delivers a pleasing and precisely designed montage for the cover. His interior pages are dependable in their pacing and storytelling, but few panels stand out. The lone exception is an almost full page panel on page four (click on inset above). The looming planet Jungleworld drifts into view from the top right, adding scale to the scene. The finely splattered ink pattern makes a convincing background of stars. This is number 13 of 14 Battlestar Galactica issues with Simonson art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Simonson or Battlestar Galactica issues. See also this blog's Simonson checklist.
