Ripley's Believe It or Not v2 #1 - Al Williamson, Wally Wood art

Ripley's Believe It or Not v2 #1, 1965 - One of Gold Key's longest running mystery titles, this first issue features ghost stories inspired by the newspaper strip. Wally Wood finely details the mystery of an 1800s-era sailing vessel. Despite only four pages, his talent is evident on many panels, including scenes of churning ocean waves. Al Williamson does an equally splendid job on his tale of a man tormented by an ancient Egyptian curse. The drawings are crisp and tightly delineated. Both stories were reprinted in Ripley's Believe It or Not v2 #80. Other artists in this issue includes George Evans and Frank Bolle. The interior page above is by Williamson. This is number 1 of 1 Ripley's Believe It or Not issues with Williamson art and/or covers and number 1 of 1 Ripley's Believe It or Not issues with Wood art and/or covers.
