Battlestar Galactica #5 - Walt Simonson art & cover

Walt Simonson
Battlestar Galactica v1 #5, 1979 - A lack of depth on the cover makes the scale of the attacking spaceships unclear. Are they enormous ships in the far background or toy-sized in the middle ground? Walt Simonson's layouts are more interesting than his actual drawings. Klaus Janson's inks dominate the art, though some pages seem more unfinished than others. Page 11, with its use of geometric shapes, is Simonson at his most recognizable. This is number 2 of 14 Battlestar Galactica issues with Simonson art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Simonson or Battlestar Galactica issues. See also this blog's Simonson checklist.
