Tales of the Mysterious Traveler v1 #11, 1959 - A rich baron searches for the secrets of the Orient, but misses a golden opportunity in
Steve Ditko's opening tale. Competently illustrated, the artist employs stair-step panels for more interesting sequences. In another story, four unscrupulous men stumble upon a peaceful valley in India, intent on exploiting it. However well drawn, it's Ditko's third tale of a fraudulent Swami and a crystal ball that's most noteworthy. The artist uses only thin line strokes and large black areas, flattening the picture plane. The result is a distinctive and delicate work not seen before in previous issues. The cover was later reprinted in
Tales of the Mysterious Traveler #14. This is 10 of 11
