(Walt Disney's) Donald Duck v1 / Four Color v2 #256, 1949 - After his harmless prank sends Gladstone Gander to seek treasure in the Arctic north, Donald's guilt compels him to follow and make amends. As usual, Carl Barks' illustrations are delightful, from the self-beached whale to the discovery of viking ship encased in ice. Equally amusing are the scenes prior to the travels, especially Donald's reactions over Gladstone's infuriating good luck. Barks' cover is a classic, deftly conveying the story's setting with the barest of elements. This story was later reprinted in Best of Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge #2 and Walt Disney Comics Digest #44. This is 13 of 43 Donald Duck issues by Barks.
