The Thing v1 #13, 1954 - Steve Ditko begins this issue with a colorfully nightmarish cover. The large faces are garish in design, resembling ancient Venetian holiday masks. Note how even the foreground candle adds a grotesque touch. All three Ditko stories are roughly equal in quality. Figures and faces are expressive and in some cases exaggerated for shock effect. Note the high level of detail in the golden age horror comic story below. This was later reprinted in >The Best of Horror and Science Fiction Comics. This is 2 of 5 Thing issues by Ditko.
