Fear #12 - Jim Starlin art & cover

Jim Starlin
(Adventure into) Fear v1 #12 with the Man-Thing, 1972 - A white policeman hunts down a black fugitive in this racially charged story. Known primarily for his super-hero work, Jim Starlin uses the same sense of innovative design and pacing. In addition to two full page splashes, Starlin juxtaposes two powerfully emotive faces on either side of the Man-Thing (see interior page below). Rich Buckler's inks also add a gritty intensity to the scenes. Unfortunately, the cover fails to match up to the level of the interior pages. This is 1 of 1 Fear issues by Starlin.
