Thunda King of the Congo #1 - Frank Frazetta art & cover

Thunda King of the Congo v1 #1 comic book cover art by Frank Frazetta
Frank Frazetta
Thunda (Thun'da) King of the Congo v1 #1, 1952 - One the most sought-after Frank Frazetta issues, this is the only comic he drew in its entirety. The main character is an obvious copy of Tarzan, with a few minor differences. Sadly, the cover and some inside panels are embarrassingly offensive due to racial stereotyping. From a purely artistic standpoint, Frazetta's work excels with its skillful drawings and fluid brushwork. Prehistoric landscapes, giant reptiles, cavemen and more are drawn with youthful enthusiasm. Of his four stories, the last is a touch less impressive than the others. All were reprinted in Thun'da Tales #1 using enhanced colors and minus the original cover. This is number 1 of 1 Thunda issues with Frazetta art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Frazetta or Thunda issues.
