Star Spangled War Stories v1 #145 featuring Enemy Ace, 1969 - Barely survivng his last dogfight, the Hangman returns to decimate Von Hammer's pilots. The aerial combat scenes are among the best in comics, a testament to Joe Kubert's skill and research. In addition, Enemy Ace's recurring nightmares allow for some fantastical imagery (including mythical beasts) on pages 1-3. It's a brief but welcome change from the typical wartime carnage and destruction (see interior page below). Kubert's cover seems less enthusiastic by comparison. Other artists in this silver age comic include Ken Barr. This is 45 of 96 Star Spangled War issues by Kubert.
