G.I. Joe, A Real American Hero #20 - non-attributed John Byrne cover

John Byrne
G.I. Joe, A Real American Hero v1 #20, 1984 - The reader is given the birds eye viewpoint as the soldier falls to earth, seemingly without a chance of survival. John Byrne reduces the background details to increase the sense of depth, also reinforced by the faded color palette. This cover design lacks interest and punch, perhaps due to its simplified layout. This is number 1 of 3 G.I. Joe issues with Byrne art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Byrne or G.I. Joe issues. See also this blog's Byrne checklist.
