Four Color Comics v2 #1291
77 Sunset Strip / Four Color Comics v2 #1291, 1962 - With the help of the detective agency, a fugitive returns to Los Angeles to prove his innocence. Russ Manning's streamlined style adds a cool, contemporary feel to the story. The artist also employs just enough detail to firmly establish each setting. Among the more memorable panels is his rendition of a Spanish-style mansion (see interior page below). Manning's second tale, about a suicide attempt that coincides with a robbery, is just as entertaining and engagingly drawn. This is 3 of 6 77 Sunset Strip issues by Manning. /// Manning gallery
