Sugarfoot / Four Color Comics v2 #992 - Alex Toth art

Sugarfoot / Four Color Comics v2 #992, 1959 - Alex Toth's second effort on this television-based series is a tad less impressive than his first. The stampeding herd scene in "The Stallion Trail" (pages 5-6) is woefully drawn, bordering on amateurish. And yet, there are still far more exemplary pages, especially his depiction of crowds and facial expressions (see interior page below). Both stories open with large, roomy panels, full of detail and expertly designed. This is number 2 of 2 Sugarfoot issues with Toth art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Toth or Sugarfoot issues. See also this blog's Alex Toth checklist.
