USA Comics #1 |
USA Comics v1 #1, 1941 - A schooner is suspected of illegally smuggling Japanese immigrants into the country. The
Defender and his sidekick Rusty, making their first appearances, bring down the entire operation.
Jack Kirby (with Joe Simon) illustrates the unrelated cover and intro page of this patriotic first issue. In a separate tale, Bob Frank's life is saved when his father injects him with mongoose blood out of desperation. His newfound super-speed inspires him to become the
Whizzer. Finally, a third story introduces
Jack Frost, an elemental from the frozen north vowing to fight injustice in the civilized world. A few lesser heroes debut in their own features, rounding out the issue. ///
