Gunhawks v1 #1, 1972 - After witnessing the horrors of the Civil War, Kid Cassidy and Reno Jones head westward from Georgia. Two men of different races as equal partners wasn't a new concept in comics, but this is a first for the western genre as far I'm aware. Unusually, this black character not only fought for the Confederacy, but eventually partners up with the son of a plantation owner. This Gary Friedrich story was drawn by Syd Shores and Sol Brodsky.
