Pocket Comics v1 #1, 1941 - Harvey Comics debuts their first series, with a heavy emphasis on super-heroes. Linda Turner, Hollywood movie star, seeks more action than glamor. Naming herself after her pet, the Black Cat goes on to foil a Nazi spy ring. In another tale, the great, great grandson of a Revolutionary War soldier dons a colonial costume to fight Nazis as the Spirit of '76. A third story tells of a well-meaning scientist secretly gives a stranger astro-pyro powers, which ignites his career as the Red Blazer. Other features introduce the Phantom Sphinx, the Zebra and other less memorable characters. "Black Cat" was written byAlfred Harvey and drawn by Al Gabriele, Bob Powell's script for "Spirit of '76" was drawn by Edd Ashe and Al Avison was the artist for "The Red Blazer".
