Flying Saucers #1 - Wally Wood art + 1st issue

Flying Saucers #1
Flying Saucers v1 #1, 1950 - Ross Lanning, scientist and explorer, makes camp in a South American jungle to solve the mystery of a volcano that emits light without heat. Eventually he finds an ancient race of aliens and their ships hidden underground. This early tale by Wally Wood shows an enthusiasm for the science fiction genre. Divided into three parts, he uses large scenes to serve as chapter headings. Wood's detailing adds plenty of depth throughout the story, even on the small panels that fill the majority of the pages. At twenty-one total pages, this is among Wood's longer tales. Cover by Gene Fawcette. This is 1 of 1 Flying Saucers issues by Wood. /// key 1st issue
