Crack Comics v1 #1, 1940 - Trekking across outer Mongolia, an archeologist, his wife and their porters are brutally killed. Hidden from view, their baby survives and in the aftermath is adopted by a condor. As he grows into adulthood, he inexplicably gains the power of flight. He soon befriends a mountain hermit, who names him the
Black Condor. Written by Will Eisner and drawn by Lou Fine, this character is the only one in this issue that endures to this day. The
Red Torpedo (a submarine-based hero), the
Spider (costumed archer),
Space Legion (sci-fi adventurer),
Madam Fatal (cross-dressing actor) and the
Clock (masked detective) all make their first appearances in brief but forgettable stories. Cover by Ed Cronin. ///
