Fear begins a run of original stories starting with this issue. After appearances in
Savage Tales and
Astonishing Tales, the Man-Thing begins his
first ongoing series. After a recap of his origin, the story centers around a troubled couple and their baby. There are hints of alcoholism and domestic violence before the Man-Thing's intervention. This Gerry Conway story was drawn by Gray Morrow and Howard Chaykin. Cover by Morrow. After ten issues, Man-Thing would debut his own self-titled
