Amazing Spider-Man v1 #50, 1967 - Driven by doubt and depression, Peter Parker decides to end his superhero career. When his Spider-man costume is found in a trash can, the Daily Bugle picks up the story. Meanwhile, the news emboldens a crime boss set to consolidate his power. Disappointingly left off the cover, the Kingpin makes his first appearance in this issue (see interior page below). This Stan Lee story was drawn by John Romita.
