Marvel Mystery Comics v1 #13, 1940 - Through his smoke experiments, Professor Enoch Mason opens a door into another dimension. Through it comes a being dedicated to destroying evil. The Vision makes his first appearance, eerily drawn by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon. Well designed layouts and roomy panels put the story art far above the usual golden age standards. The character, who also appears on a small cover panel, would inspire a far different silver age version in Avengers #57.
