In this first issue, Concrete participates in a mining rescue effort at the behest of his former boss Senator Thompson. Biologist Maureen Vonnegut and assistant Larry Munro, two characters introduced previously, accompany him to Kentucky. This story was written and drawn by Paul Chadwick.
