Monster World #1 - Wally Wood, Frank Frazetta art + 1st issue

Monster World #1
Monster World v1 #1, 1964 - Like many other monster magazines, this issue boasts mostly photos from famous horror. Unlike the others, this first issue issue contains a vastly abridged adaptation of the 1932 film "The Mummy". Wally Wood provides the inks over Russ Jones' pencils and seems to have pencilled certain panels as well. The story is all too brief, but the artists do a credible job with the actors' likenesses. Boris Karloff looks especially good, thanks to Wood's keen draftsmanship. This story was reprinted in Eerie v3 #11. A small Frank Frazetta illustration is used alongside the masthead for the letters column. It is exceptionally well drawn with a mastery for detail. Despite the relatively small size, it outshines the rest of the book. This is 1 of 1 Monster World issues by Wood. /// key 1st issue
