Two-Fisted Tales #41 |
Two-Fisted Tales v1 #41, 1955 - Recounting the adventures of hunter Carl Akeley, a sudden elephant charge leaves him battered and near death. The dense African jungle is stunningly portrayed by
Wally Wood. Wild animals and foliage fill nearly every panel. Most impressive is the artist's depiction of the bull elephant: first trudging through the bamboo (page 1), then charging his assailant (see interior page below). Told without dialogue, Wood's visuals seem to have greater impact than usual. This story was later reprinted in
Two-Fisted Tales v2 #24. Other artists in this comic include Jack Davis, John Severin, George Evans and Bernie Krigstein. Cover by Jack Davis. This is 18 of 18
