Jim Starlin |
House of Mystery v1 #281, 1978 - While inconsistent with the interior story,
Jim Starlin's cover is strikingly drawn. The worm's-eye view is twisted just enough to include the viewer in the crowd of spectators. The red circle in the background is purely a graphic device calling more attention to the two combatants. The clever insertion of Cain, the series host, as referee is a nice touch. Starlin inks his own pencils with superb results. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Frank Redondo, Romeo Tanghal and Joe Magpelo. This is 2 of 3

I like how this cover eviokes to Neal Adams-drawn cover to "Superman vs. Muhammed Ali."
I can see that now. Thanks for your insight.
