Gyro Gearloose / Four Color Comics #1095 dell silver age 1960s comic book cover art by Carl Barks
Carl Barks
(Walt Disney's) Gyro Gearloose / Four Color Comics v2 #1095, 1960Carl Barks supplies the artwork for the entire issue, his second of this series. Of the four tales, none stands out from the rest, though all are drawn with a high degree of craftsmanship. In the lead story, meticulous detailed caverns (pages 6-7) and a hive-like cloud of savings bonds (pages 9-10) display an astonishing level of effort by the artist. These traits and more distinguish Barks from his peers in this genre. "Mixed Up Mixer" was later reprinted in Vacation Parade v2 #1, "Madball Pitcher" in Walt Disney Comics Digest #29 and "The Bear Tamer" in Walt Disney Comics Digest #43. This is 2 of 5 Gyro Gearloose issues by Barks.
