Books of Magic v1 #1, 1990 - Realizing a London boy's magical potential, four prominent occultists team up to find him and put him on the right path. In this first issue, Phantom Stranger takes Timothy Hunter to the beginning of time and other eras. Each reveals valuable knowledge that will inform him in the future. In subsequent issues, the boy travels separately with Mister E, John Constantine and Doctor Occult. The character precedes J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books and there's certainly similarities.
