Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies Comics v1 #1, 1941 - In "The Wild Hare", the mighty hunter Elmer Fudd shushes his audience in order to shoot a rabbit (Bugs Bunny). This story adapts the cartoon of the same name, which introduced both characters to movie audiences. In a separate tale, Porky Pig hires a dim-witted fellow to watch over his chickens. This first issue marks the first appearances in comics of several classic cartoons, including Daffy Duck (appearing in 3 panels of a second Bugs Bunny tale), Petunia Pig (text story illustrations) and Mary Jane and Sniffles the mouse. Some stories and art are credited to Win Smith and Chase Craig.
