King Kong v1 #NN (no number) / 30036-809 on cover, 1968 - Director Carl Denham and crew journey from New York City to remote Skull Island to film his new movie. They discover a giant ape in the process. Based on the classic 1933 movie, this giant adaptation marks Kong's first appearance in comics. The interiors were drawn by Giovanni Ticci and Alberto Giolitti. George Wilson's painted cover also appears on the back as a pin-up (without the text). Interestingly, there's a paperback version with the Western Publishing logo in the corner. It's tabloid size and came out the same year. /// key 1st appearance in comics King Kong, Specialty issue (movie)
