48 Famous Americans v1 #NN (no number), 1947 - A JC Penney department store giveaway, this one shot comic features the most important people in American history. Many, including Herbert Hoover, Jack Dempsey and Helen Keller, were still alive at time of publication. Though Joe Simon claimed credit for drawing the entire issue, it seems Jack Kirby pencilled the George Washington, Ernie Pyle and Ulysses Grant pages, perhaps more. At the very least, he inked some of the faces and figures throughout the issue. I believe Kirby did the cover, which the the high point of the book. This is 1 of 1 48 Famous Americans issues by Kirby.
