Justice League of America #178 - Jim Starlin cover

Jim Starlin
Justice League of America v1 #178, 1980 - A chess game between Despero and Martian Manhunter determines the fate of the JLA. To be frank, Jim Starlin's cover is sloppily executed. The drawing is marred by elements of out of proportion and poor foreshortening. The crowded layout jams every character into too small a space. The good news is that Starlin would improve with subsequent issues. Other artists in this issue include Dick Dillin and Frank McLaughlin. This is number 1 of 4 Justice League of America issues with Starlin art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Starlin or Justice League of America issues. 1. While I agree that the execution is sloppy, I appreciate the homage to Justice League of America #1!
