Jungle Jo #3 - Wally Wood art

Jungle Jo v1 #3, 1950 - One of many jungle hero-themed comics at the time, Jungle Jo ran only a handful of issues. Joe Orlando pencils the second story, no better or worse than the rest of the issue. The overall artwork fares better, however due to Wally Wood's inking. The first five pages or so are more detailed, utilizing shadows to enhance depth and mood. The artist's hand is a little less obvious on the remaining pages, which border on primitive. Like other early works, Wood struggles while still demonstrating potential. This is number 1 of 1 Jungle Jo issues with Wood art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Wood or Jungle Jo issues. See also this blog's Wood checklist.
