First Love Illustrated v1 #68, 1956 - Emerging from the Tunnel of Love, a young man wipes off the lipstick from his girlfriend's kisses. An older couple, riding in the same boat, looks on approvingly, as does the ride attendant. Jack Kirby enhances the scene with romantic ornamentation. The curvilinear shapes and cupid symbol add a level of sophistication not often seen on carnival rides. Kirby adds just enough flourish to catch the eye. Other artists in this golden age comic include Bill Draut and Bob Powell.
