Jack Kirby |
X-Men v1 #4, 1964 - Magneto returns, armed with a Naval destroyer and accompanied by his
Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. The
Toad,
Mastermind,
Quicksilver and the
Scarlet Witch all make their first appearances. Despite the mediocre cover,
Jack Kirby does manage to showcase an array of new characters. His story art is better, infusing the story's with movement and grace. Especially good are pages 1-3, portraying a Danger Room session where the heroes test their skills and powers. This early Stan Lee story was later reprinted in
Amazing Adventures v4 #7 and
#8. This is 4 of 17
X-men issues by
Kirby. ///
