X-Men v1 #2, 1963 - How you can stop a villain who can disappear in an instant? Professor X and team pursue the
Vanisher all the way to Washington DC. Too many figures with too little hierarchy make this
Jack Kirby cover less than ideal. His interior art, however, has plenty of action throughout the story. Dynamically drawn, the more memorable scenes showcase the X-men put to the test in the Danger Room (see interior page below). Perhaps most noteworthy is Kirby's excellent opening splash, depicting the entire team moving in tandem. This silver age story was later reprinted in
Amazing Adventures v4 #3 and
#4. This is 2 of 17
