Crime Smashers #5 - Wally Wood art

Crime Smashers #5
Crime Smashers v1 #5, 1951 - After an old woman is found strangled in her bed, reporter Ray Hale investigates her daughter, the fiancee and a thug robbing a nearby grocery store. A grisly murder scene opens the story, although mild compared to other crime comics of the era. Wally Wood's artwork is simple and sometimes crudely drawn. Figure proportions and foreshortening are often unconvincing (page 8 panel 1 for example). Nonetheless, Wood's work is distinctive and recognizable, particularly his rendition of femme fatales. This is 1 of 1 Crime Smashers issues by Wood.
