Kobra #1 - Jack Kirby art

Kobra v1 #1, 1975 - Jason Burr discovers a long lost twin brother who not only shares his pain but leads an ancient cult of evil. Jack Kirby is tasked with drawing this first issue, establishing the characters and conspiratorial tone of the series. HIs artwork is mostly adequate, mostly relying on his considerable layout and pacing skills. The harshness of Kirby's style is softened by Pablo Marcos' partial inking. Some of the panels fare better than others, but the result overall is not displeasing. Other artists in this issue include Ernie Chua (cover). This is number 1 of 1 Kobra issues with Kirby art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Kirby or Kobra issues. See also this blog's Kirby checklist.
