Fantastic Four v1 #72, 1968 - Fed up with humanity's ills, the Silver Surfer goes on a rampage across the globe. The Fantastic Four (minus the pregnant Sue Richards) stand poised to stop him. Jack Kirby delivers one of his best Silver Surfer covers of the era, along with an impeccably drawn story. Among the many fine pages, the Surfer's path of destruction (see interior page below) and the Thing's surprise attack (pages 10-11) stand out. Most astonishing, though, is Kirby's iconic splash of the Surfer soaring high above the city. This is 72 of 116 Fantastic Four issues by Kirby.
