Plop #23 |
Plop v1 #23, 1975 -
Wally Wood nears the end of his run on this title. In addition to his ongoing "Plopular Poetry" gag page, the artist contributes a
Lord of the Rings parody. His opening panel, presenting a hobbit home's interior, is admirable just for its architectural details alone. Though silly in tone, Wood's drawings have a depth and texture absent from the rest of the book. This story was later reprinted in
Best of DC #60. Basil Wolverton is responsible for this edition's "Plop-ular Person of the Month". Other artists in this bronze age comic include John Albano, Dave Manak, Henry Scarpelli and others. This is 10 of 11
