Plop #23 - Wally Wood art

Plop v1 #23, 1975 - Wally Wood nears the end of his run on this title. In addition to his ongoing "Plopular Poetry" gag page, the artist contributes a Lord of the Rings parody. His opening panel, presenting a hobbit home's interior, is admirable just for its architectural details alone. Though silly in tone, Wood's drawings have a depth and texture absent from the rest of the book. This story was later reprinted in Best of DC #60. Basil Wolverton is responsible for this edition's "Plop-ular Person of the Month". Other artists in this issue include John Albano, Dave Manak, Henry Scarpelli and others. This is number 10 of 11 Plop issues with Wood art and/or covers.
