Untold Legend of the Batman v1 #1, 1980 - This three issue mini-series sheds new light on the Batman's past, expanding upon previous facts and details. John Byrne (at this time relatively new at drawing the character) delivers a merely adequate job despite the inclusion of three full splash pages. His pencils are further suppressed by the inks of long-time Batman artist Jim Aparo. Byrne's style emerges on certain panels, but not enough to be compelling. This issue also includes artwork by Jose Garcia Lopez.

I remember buying them at the time and, in fact, still have them. They were also released some years later with a cassette tape audio-dramatisation of each issue. (I've got them, too.)
